NICO AT HOME WITH JANET PLANET
How was the shoot for you?
It was good fun! Some of the pics were actually taken at my parents house on the coast - and some at my own house in Melbourne.
What does self-care look like for you?
I’m currently on tour doing these questions - so i need to be pretty strict on self care or i get sick (sometimes i get sick anyway). So I have this weird routine called towel time where pretty much an hour a day before a show I have an extra hot shower and use like a million products and sit around in my towel. Kinda the only way to feel slightly normal when you're moving around so much.
Confidence Man explores the intersection between music and fashion, what is it about these themes that inspire you, and how are they reflected in your creative pursuits?
I've always designed my own clothes, ever since I was a kid. My mum would always make my outfits so I was spoiled in that way. I think that gave me freedom to make exactly the clothes I was envisioning. So in a way I guess fashion is freedom of expression, as is music, so those two things colliding always felt really natural to me.
What does a typical day look like for you as one half of Confidence Man?
Changes depending on what's happening with the band, but when I'm at home I wake up, do pilates, get coffee with Clarence, then usually do costume meetings, do emails, do shoots/videos or go to the studio. Alternatively we're on tour which then everyday is kinda different. A lot less routine. And a lot more hangovers!
Tell us about something you're working on that’s inspiring you right now?
After months of working on our live show we're finally performing. We've done about 10 of 30 shows. Finally playing again live, and playing our new record is just about the most uplifting and exciting thing we've ever done. We also just did Jools Holland yesterday so that was a wild inspiring experience!
