NICO at Home with Baby Cool
How did you enjoy creating the NICO at Home content?
I wouldn't say I'm much of a model but I do like spending my home time mostly in my undies.
What does self-care look like to you?
Self care looks like saying no when I really need to, but I've learnt recently that it can also look like saying yes to the thing you might not want to do but could be really good for you.
What role does sustainability play in your life?
I try to do my part while we all flail about in the capitalist machine. I have recently become addicted to gardening. I'm still learning, but it feels good to eat your own produce.
Your music has such a unique vibe. What usually sparks the inspiration for it?
All of my songs are about some form of emotion that I am trying to untangle from my brain and body and make sense of. It's a slow unravelling usually.
Congratulations on bub! How has motherhood changed the way you create?
I'm only 10 weeks into the journey as I write this (not including the wild time of pregnancy of course). I feel more creative than ever, probably because I am glued to the present moment through my daughter and her experiences. Making art and music is happening a bit more on the fly, for now. Only having a spare half an hour or so at a time makes me really focus which is nice.
Looking back, are there songs or moments that feel more powerful now than they did before?
Now that I'm a mother, everything feels more potent. The song 'Otherside' on my new record is about taking the leap and letting go of fear that might hold you back from a new experience. When I listen to the song now, I think about how I felt before birth, I had a calm wash over me in a really surprising way and I really hear that in the song now.
What are you working on right now?
My new album came out on June 5. Apart from that, I'm working on being a mother. That is the greatest creative project I will ever have on my plate.
